Daniella’s

July 11, 2015

When people think of the times square/theatre district restaurants the term Tourist trap comes to mind. Places like the Hard rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood and Jekyll & Hyde’s offer a unique experience complete with overpriced gift shops.

However if you’re in theatre district and want a great meal in a pleasant atmosphere at a decent price then Daniela’s at 45th and 8th is a great choice whether you’re on a date or with your family.
Daniella’s is a dimly lit smaller place with brick walls with indentations for candles. The tables are somewhat close together but you never feel as if you are on top of the party next to you.
As soon as you’re seated you’ll be asked for your drink order by one of the waiters and it will served within a minute or so. One of the things I loved was the fact that you don’t have only one waiter assigned to a station. They work together to keep the drinks and the bread coming.
The menu is Italian fare. Like most people who grew up eating Sunday Italian dinners in New Jersey (Think Sopranos) I can be a bit picky when it comes to authenticity but Daniella’s never disappoints. I ordered the from price fix menu which includes a salad, any chicken of pasta dish, and dessert with coffee. ($33.00) After the Caesar salad my entre of Chicken Francaise with sides broccoli and roasted potatoes. My date ordered salmon with bow tie pasta which she enjoyed a lot. All I can say for my dinner was he kind of thing where I’ll order it every time I’m there and I’ll hate myself if I don’t….fantastic.
The only downside I saw was refills on soda weren’t included.
The price for 2 people came to about $100.00 plus tip. For the service, the food, the location and the atmosphere, it was a great value.
